Drive: A magnetic disk has to be mounted on a disk drive. before it can be used for reading or writing of information. a disk drive contains all the mechanical. electrical, and electronic-components, for holding one or more disk for reading or writing of information on to it, that is it, contains the central shaft on which the disks-are mounted, the access, arms assembly. the read-write heads. and the motors to rotate the disks and to move the access arms assembly. although, disk drives vary greatly in their shape. size and disk formatting patter. they can be broadly classified into the following two types.
